This post was originally written in February 2016 when my blog was brand new. I'm updating it and adding a free printable for you as a reminder of who you really are in Christ. I hope it blesses you!

There is that stupid, annoying, pesky voice that loves to whisper in my ear,

"You snapped at the kids again."

"You didn't get the laundry finished."

"You aren't playing with the kids enough."

"You are still hanging on to lots of baby weight."

"You can't do that."

"You aren't good enough."

and on and on. I just want to yell, "STOP!" every time I hear it creeping in. That voice is what stops us from enjoying life. It's what causes us to hide away, to settle for mediocrity and "just enough" rather than living with joy and thriving.

You know what? I'm not perfect and I never will be. But that doesn't mean that I need to give up. It doesn't mean that I need to settle. It means I need to change the narrative. I need to speak positively to myself. I need to pray for God to affirm that I am all that He says I am.

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 1 Peter 2:9

But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God. John 1:12

I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; My soul knows it very well. Psalm 139:14

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 2 Corinthians 5:17

Our enemy is not flesh and blood. Our enemy prowls around seeking to kill and destroy. He will use all those little insecurities that we have and exploit them. He will make us desire to sit on the couch and ignore our passions instead of pursuing them. He will convince us that we really did screw up that bad.

But friend, you do not need to listen to that.

We need to continually seek God and choose to live a life that glorifies Him. We are still human and we will make mistakes, but it is because of a gracious God that we live in freedom. Those mistakes do not need to haunt you and be held over your head. You do not need to beat yourself up over them. You are free and are given new mercies every morning when you bring yourself to Christ.

If you need a reminder of who you are in Christ I created these simple printables for you. There are four per sheet, easy to cut out and tuck places where you need to see the reminder. Tape them inside a kitchen cupboard, hide them in pages of your Bible, tuck them inside your wallet. Jesus loves you. God is for you. You are loved, precious, and so very wanted.
