Chores, dancing, and flowers - 8 places I found joy in the chaos this week

Sorry for the break in posting these! Last weekend was a little crazy with dress rehearsal and the actual children's Christmas program for church and we lounged around on Sunday doing not much of anything. I've decided Sunday is not a great day for trying to get this posted so from here on out I'll be posting these on Mondays spanning the previous Sunday-Saturday. That gives me a little more breathing room to compile all my images and get it all typed up.

The kids and Micah had Wednesday-Friday off from work and we really soaked up the vacation time. We rarely changed out of pjs, did a lot of snacking, and played lots of games. Micah's parents arrived Wednesday night and stayed until mid morning on Saturday. We ate sooo much food for Thanksgiving. We did a small amount of Christmas shopping on Black Friday and plan on doing a bit more online for Cyber Monday. (Have you checked out the sales and deals page?)

When joy is hard to find

There are seasons of life when finding any spark of joy feels impossible. Whether it be financial hardship, death, infertility, depression, marriage troubles, or sickness, finding joy when life is piling on difficult circumstances can seem futile. 

At the end of 2011 and beginning of 2012 I experienced two back to back miscarriages.

We had been trying for our third child for five months when I saw the two pink lines on Christmas morning. I was elated! Two days later I started bleeding. I would have been about 4 weeks along. 

At the end of January I got another positive test! This time all seemed well. I went to my 8-week appointment and was hit with the news. The baby had no heartbeat. I went home and had to wait to miscarry.
