2017 Clutter Buster Challenge Week 42: Kid or Guest Bedroom Closet Shelves

I'm still in Mercedes room for this challenge. I could easily have gone into one of the boy rooms for this because both rooms have "stuff" on the shelves but its mostly extra bedding, seasonal clothing, or toys that have been confiscated for a short time. Mercedes uses her closet shelves for her current wardrobe. She has all these little cubbies to house her pants and a shelf above her dresser for skirts.

2017 Clutter Buster Challenge Week 41: Kid or Guest Bedroom Closet Racks

Only one of the kids uses closet racks and that's Mercedes. Her room isn't really big enough for a dresser so instead she has a small dresser for underwear, socks, and pjs, shelves for pants, and racks for all her shirts and dresses. Now that the seasons are switching this is actually the perfect time to take on this task. I can remove all the summer clothes that are still hung up to take away the temptation to come upstairs in a tank top when it's only 40* outside.

We have a set of shelves in our closet that divides the two sides. It often becomes a catch-all for random objects we aren't sure what to do with, plastic containers we are using to separate LEGO during builds, books, and LEGO sets we still need to build. I knew there might not be much we could actually get rid of permanently but there had to be better spots for some of it.

2017 Clutter Buster Challenge Week 19: Master Bedroom Closet Racks

I decided to be ruthless again this week. After seeing how much I was able to get rid of in my drawers I knew there had to be items in the closet I could donate as well. I've got several sweaters that are on the shorter side. The hems sit all about at my waist or slightly below and I much prefer long sweaters that hit mid thigh or even to my knees. I had to throw my favorite sweater away because I discovered a big hole in it that wasn't going to be repairable. I was, and still am, super bummed!
