Weekly Menu Plan #22

weeklymenuplan.jpg

I love menu planning and seeing other's dinner plans! I'm weird like that ;) As I've shared before, being in the kitchen is my happy place so I love finding meals that are new but I also never forget our favorites! These will link to the author's original recipe unless it's my own recipe/creation that I don't have a link for... yet.

Sunday: Sloppy Joes & corn on the cob - We have yet to buy corn this season and knowing how much the kids LOVE it this just felt wrong. I'm looking forward to this summery meal with watermelon on the side!

Monday: Honey Mustard Chicken with rice - This is one of those meals that I've thought about posting the recipe for because we LOVE it but it's not the prettiest meal to photograph. It's basically beige with more beige. Diced chicken is mixed with honey, brown mustard, cream of chicken soup (I use this recipe) and some mayo to create a super creamy sauce. We pour it over brown rice and usually serve it with broccoli. I'm out of broccoli so side salad or steamed green beans it is!

Tuesday: Brown Sugar Chicken Sandwiches - I was going to make Brown Sugar Ham Sandwiches but there was a demo of Hillshire Farm Chicken at Sam's and we really liked it. It was a better deal than the ham as well so we swapped it out and are going to try it instead!

Wednesday: Chicken Ranch Tacos - Would it be a normal week if we didn't have a taco/burrito/enchilada/taquito style item on the menu? Probably not. The ranch seasoning adds a little something extra to the normal taco flavor that is something special. I love making our own ranch seasoning mix (cheaper and healthier!) instead of buying the little packets and I'll be sharing our favorite homemade taco seasoning this week as well so you can make this meal with us!

Thursday: Leftovers

Friday: Out with family for my parents 35th wedding anniversary! It's been a while since my family was all together so this will be a fun night!

Saturday: Grilling! I'm not sure what yet but we will be with family so I'm sure there will be plenty going on. If you need some ideas to go with your summer grill plans you can visit this post where I share ten easy summer sides to throw together for your summer gatherings!

What's on your menu this week?

My Week's Joy - 6/20-6/26

My Week's Joy - 6/20-6/26

Inspired by one of my favorite blogs I thought it would be a great idea to look back each week at those things that brought me the most joy. This is far too fitting for my blog to ignore the idea so I look forward to posting these each week!

Do you want to know my favorite part about starting this blog and making a point of choosing to see joy in my normal, everyday life? I'm seeing it everywhere now and it's so hard to not want to share CONSTANTLY about the joy around me.

It's been a bit of a crazy week! The big boys were at the farm enjoying some time with Grammy and Papa so I "only" had three kids for most of the time! We had some adventures, lots of extra cuddles, and some silly play time. Then we took a trip to the farm for a big celebration and to bring the boys back home.

My Week's Joy - 6/13-6/19

Inspired by one of my favorite blogs I thought it would be a great idea to look back each week at those things that brought me the most joy. This is far too fitting for my blog to ignore the idea so I look forward to posting these each week!

It was such an awesome week! But with many awesome weeks I was so focused on enjoying the time that I didn't take as many pictures to share with all of you. I did manage to take a few but several of my favorite joy filled moments are undocumented.

A look back through 10 years of marriage

A look back through 10 years of marriage

Ten years!? Have we really been married that long? I'm pretty sure I'm only in my early to mid 20's so there's no way it's been ten years. Oh, wait...

It's true. We are celebrating ten amazing years of marriage this week so I thought it would be fun to show you a picture from each year since we tied the knot. It was wonderful to look back through all my old folders of pictures to find one from each year to share. Lots of silly memories, forgotten adventures, and normal every day things that I'm glad I took the time to capture. Do you ever look back through all your old photos?

Update on May's Goals & My Goals for June

Update on May's Goals & My Goals for June

It's that time again! The end of the month has arrived and it's my time to reflect back on the goals I set for myself. Honestly? This month was a bit all over the place. Getting sick threw me off for longer than I wish it would have but I managed to get back on track and end the month on a good note.

Let's look back at the four goals I set for May and how they went for us.

1. Clean up the living room before bed every night

This was really hit or miss all month. There were nights where we got it done with zero issues and other nights where it was a huge battle. Then other nights where we didn't even bother due to activities, exhaustion, or other circumstances. Our neighbors were moving this month so I wanted the kids to get a chance to soak up play time with their friends and by the time they got inside I just wanted them in bed. I think I'm going to change this habit to directly after dinner before any more outside time can happen. Incentives ;)

2. Add in counters to the "cleaned off every night" list

I did okay at this but definitely not as well as I wanted. The nights I made a point of cleaning off the counters I also usually got the floor and table as well so the kitchen looked fabulous. The nights I didn't I felt frazzled in the morning because there were dishes or crumbs where I needed to be prepping breakfast. Definitely something I need to keep working on to make more of a habit.

3. Sort the laundry the day it comes out of the dryer

This went really well because the boys have learned that helping = money. We have certain tasks the kids are expected to do without compensation. Chores like cleaning their room, putting away their laundry, cleaning up toys, bringing clothes to the laundry room, and clearing their dishes to load into the dishwasher. Everything else that is considered a "household chore" can earn them money. They get a quarter each time they help so they didn't mind sorting a basket or flipping loads. So much easier for this mama! This is another that will stay a habit in the house.

4. Organize under the bathroom sink & linen closet

I got this done and shared a post on it last Friday. I'm so pleased with the results and so far they still look as good as the day I did it! Now I need to figure out what my next organizing project should be :D
