Welcome back! If you are just joining us, we are using the YouVersion Bible App to follow a devotional together. Read THIS POST to get all the information you need to join in and then you can read THIS MORNING'S POST to see the promises we are focusing on this week.
Did you get a chance to spend some time with this week's promises? I read them over and over and had such a hard time deciding until I realized that one lined up perfectly with the devotional we are doing with the kids right now! We do our devotional in the morning at breakfast, which is the only time during the week we are always all together, and this verse mirrors the verse we read - Matthew 7:7.
So the promise I chose this week is...
Talk to me about your concerns - I'll take care of you- you'll be joyful.
One of the questions in the devotional with the kids this morning was about what we ask for. Do we ask for anything and everything and expect to get it? No, we need to be asking for things that are the best for us according to God and His plan for us.
The more we spend time in the Bible, meditating on His word, and in conversation with Him, the better we will be at learning what is truly good for us. And what might be good for our lives may not be good for another. Just as what might be good for another could derail us.
I think back to when the idea for a new blog first popped into my head. I loved the idea of writing again but wasn't sure about the logistics. I wasn't sure if I had it in me. But I prayed for guidance and God answered. I asked Him to show me how to make things work and He set a path before me. I continue praying for clarity, His words to come through me, and for His plan for this blog to come through, not my own plan. I keep receiving answers and confirmation day after day.
I have dreams of turning this little blog into a bigger thing. Of reaching a larger audience and being able to encourage people all over to love the life they are living. To seek joy, even when life is a little (or a lot) crazy. To thank God, even when facing trials. So I'm praying. I'm asking God to use me and use this little spot I have for His purpose. If it isn't in line with His will, I'm praying He changes my heart so I'm content with my little spot rather than seeking something larger.
If there is something on your heart, something you want God to do in your life, or in someone else's life, lift it up to Him. Ask Him for what you want. Pour your heart out to Him. Seek His will and ask for what is good.
Heavenly Father, Thank you that we can come to you with our desires, our hopes, our dreams, our pains, and our hurts. Thank you that we can ask for what we want in Your son's name and it will be given to us. Fill us with the faith to believe this! Help us to hold true to your will so that what we ask is in line with your word and your plans. In Jesus' name, Amen.
What promise did you choose this week? Is there and answer you are waiting for from God? Can I pray for you about something?
