Outside time on top of more outside time, new books, and LEGO - six places I found joy in the chaos this week

Every week I like to take a moment to showcase the moments that brought me the most joy. Sometimes they are awesome activities and other times it's a sweet moment between the kids. There are always moments that can fill us with joy if we choose to see them with a thankful heart.

You may have noticed a distinct lack of pictures with the big boys lately. They are avoiding the camera and spending a good amount of time either hiding in their room with LEGO or outside on their bikes. And pictures of them as a blur speeding by isn't super helpful!

The beginning of this week was BEAUTIFUL and we spent most days outside on the deck. We have a gate at the top of the stairs so the kids are contained. This means I can sit and not worry about them escaping - essential with two year old twins!

1. Riding bikes

We spent lots of time outside on Sunday afternoon, mostly on bikes. Cade (in the background of the left picture) is ROCKING his balance bike. He can go several houses and turn around all on his own. Yay! We (and by we I mean Micah) put training wheels on a small bike for Mercedes so she can try her hand at really peddling. She's growing up!

2. New book

I got Terri Blackstock's new novel, If I'm Found, from the library and plowed through it in about two days. Now I need to wait until March 2018 for the next one in this series! But it was a great read with a great message woven throughout it.

3. Watching clouds

This cracked me up! I'm sitting on the deck, reading my book, when I hear Mercedes laughing and telling Cade all about the silly things in the clouds. He lays down next to her and starts pointing at the clouds as well. Anders joined them for a moment then got back up, laid back down, got back up, and repeat for a good 10 minutes with chalk coloring in between cloud watching.

4. Little Chef

One afternoon Anders started cooking at the kitchen on the deck. He even grabbed one of the little oven mitts to take his food out of the oven. At least I know he's paying attention to what I do in the kitchen.

5. New wall art

This plank wall art! I see it every time I head to our basement which is usually the most chaotic area of the house. It's where the three big kids' rooms are, the laundry room, and the crazy living room that people rarely see, haha! But seriously, this little reminder that no matter what is happening it is well because I've got Jesus. {You can get your own right here!}

6. LEGO afternoon

This is their perfect Saturday afternoon. They are still required to have quiet time in the afternoon (mostly to give us a break) but they like it too because it means no little siblings crashing their creations. I snuck in and snapped a quick picture to show you that they do still exist ;) I so love seeing their creativity, as well as their personalities and interests, come through in their building. Parker tends to build creatures and mechs where Jamison sticks to cars, ships, and buildings.

Where did you find joy in your chaos this week?
